A UNIQUE FESTIVAL IN AN EXCEPTIONAL SETTING
We create music and awareness.
One of the fundamental pillars of the LPA B&M Festival is its focus on sustainability, a key theme within the Canary Islands ' tourism strategy. This year, the festival has taken a step forward by obtaining a sustainability certificate: CCVC2030, verified by OCA Global, which officially accredits the event's environmental practices and commitments. This certificate reinforces the validity of the responsible production and consumption initiatives adopted, such as the use of recyclable and biocompostable materials, the minimization of plastic waste, and the promotion of the circular economy through collaboration with local suppliers.
-
The festival contributes to these goals by organizing educational workshops and cultural activities that promote learning and cultural enrichment for all ages. These activities are designed to foster an appreciation for arts and culture, while providing practical tools and knowledge that participants can take with them beyond the event.
-
The LPA B&M Festival promotes gender equality by offering an inclusive space where artists of different genres and backgrounds perform, and by encouraging the participation of women in leadership roles within the event's organization. Furthermore, the festival includes specific initiatives such as the Purple Dot to combat gender-based violence, echoing the importance of creating safe and equitable environments for all genders.
-
The festival generates numerous local employment opportunities, from logistics and set-up to event management and operations. These jobs not only provide short-term employment but also help develop skills and competencies in the entertainment and tourism industry, a key sector for the Canary Islands economy.
-
The LPA B&M Festival works to reduce inequalities by offering affordable prices and inclusive programs that allow people of different socioeconomic backgrounds to enjoy the event. Furthermore, its collaboration with organizations such as the Refugee Aid Commission (CEAR), a non-profit placement agency for migrants, asylum seekers, and/or those at risk of vulnerability or exclusion, underscores the festival's commitment to social inclusion and support for vulnerable communities. This collaboration highlights the festival's dedication to creating a welcoming and supportive space, reinforcing its active role in promoting equality and social justice.
-
The festival promotes sustainable practices in waste management and minimizing environmental impact. The use of recyclable materials and the implementation of strategies to reduce the carbon footprint are concrete steps toward building a more sustainable and environmentally friendly community.
-
Through initiatives such as obtaining a sustainability certificate, the festival demonstrates an active commitment to climate change mitigation, highlighting the importance of climate action at large-scale events.
-
The festival implements renewable energy technologies and energy-efficient systems to power its facilities. By employing efficient sound and lighting equipment and utilizing alternative energy sources, the event minimizes its dependence on fossil fuels, aligning itself with local and international efforts toward a sustainable energy transition.
-
The LPA B&M Festival encourages responsible consumption practices among its participants by promoting local, zero-mile, and eco-friendly products. From food and beverages to merchandise, sustainability is prioritized and waste is reduced through recycling and reuse policies, moving the festival toward a circular economy and reducing its environmental footprint.
-
Despite being a music festival, there is a commitment to protecting marine and coastal wildlife, promoting beach and coastal cleanups in collaboration with environmental organizations. This not only helps preserve local ecosystems vital to biodiversity but also raises awareness among attendees about the importance of protecting the marine environment.
-
The festival works closely with local and regional authorities to ensure that all aspects of the event are conducted within a legal and ethical framework. Transparency and accountability are promoted, ensuring that the festival is not only a place of entertainment but also a model of integrity and good governance.
-
The LPA B&M Festival establishes strategic partnerships with a variety of stakeholders, including businesses, NGOs, educational institutions, and the government, to work collectively toward achieving the SDGs and the objectives of the Canary Islands Agenda. These collaborations strengthen the festival's ability to generate a broader, positive impact, extending its influence beyond the confines of the event.
By aligning its activities with these specific goals and objectives, the LPA B&M Festival not only fulfills its environmental and social commitments but also positions itself as a leader in promoting sustainable development in the cultural sphere. Furthermore, these initiatives help strengthen the connection between the festival and the local community, promoting a legacy of sustainability and social responsibility that transcends the duration of the event and positively contributes to the well-being and development of Gran Canaria.
